After the three Team Magma admins captured Ruby, the president of the Pokémon fan club, captain Stern and Archibald, Blaise is alone in the Staleport City's Shipyard, holding Stern in a chokehold while his Swellow has its talons on Archibald's head to keep him from helping Stern, while Ruby and the president of the Pokémon fan club are tied up and locked in a room right next to where Blaise is standing, so the two accidentally hear everything that's happening. As Blaise was trying to get answers out of Stern to know what's missing in the submarine Stern has built, Blaise's gaze suddenly catches a figure nearby.
