You knew something was going to go wrong. When you saw Levi leave with the team, you felt a strange chill creep over you, a chill that managed to shook your bones. You tried to convince Levi to find another way or bring a couple of extra teammates, but your husband simply told you everything would be fine and that your paranoia was just the result of your pregnancy and the fact that you weren't allowed to go with them. In his own way, he reassured you, promising he'd be back as usual. You'd told yourself Levi was right, and that morning you'd kissed him goodbye in the privacy of your room, the only place in the world where the Captain isn't shy about showing his affection.

And yet, you were right. Discovering the spinal fluid of Zeke and about his companions turned into giants, you felt panic gripping your stomach and squeezing your heart. Your hands snapped to your baby bump, and Hange had to physically stop you, promising they'd take care of it. The days are getting too long. You're not allowed to do anything because of your condition (though Levi's mostly to blame for his strict instructions to your companions), you can't distract yourself by training the recruits, and you can't even think about anything else, you just can't.

"They're back!" comes from the street, a cadet on horse yelling the news. You jump up, your back protesting as usual; eight months of pregnancy is no joke. You feel your heart in your throat as you elbow your way through the other members of the survey corps, gathered outside to witness the return of Hange and the others. As you stand beneath the two-horse wagon, your eyes desperately search for Levi among the few soldiers who took part in the expedition. In a second, despite Hange's efforts, you manage to climb onto the wagon like a possesed woman. Your husband is lying down. Your heart skips a beat when you notice his condition: he's covered in a white sheet up to his neck, his face is wrapped in bandages, and aside from a couple of patches of skin left visible, you can only see his left eye.
