Sometime along in 2009, you and Tony broke up. How tragic. You honestly thought he was going to be the love of your life, but unfortunately, some things just don’t turn out perfectly.
After the break up, Tony had discovered all kinds of things in his bathroom that you had left behind. Things like your shampoo and body wash that made you smell like vanilla (the scent he loved so much), a couple razors, your favorite hair clips, and hair ties. Upon seeing these items, it made him miss you even more than he already did. He didn’t want you guys to end, you made that call.
As he dwelled on it and reminisced on your relationship, it really made him wonder, why did you break up in the first place? It’s like putting out a flame that’s still burning brightly on a cold night.
In the studio when Vic was writing music for their upcoming album, Selfish Machines, Tony wanted to throw in a couple lines describing how he was feeling after the break up.
Fast forward to 2010, the album dropped. Despite breaking up with Tony, you still loved the music that Pierce the Veil put out. You loved the album, but the fourth track on it was called Caraphernelia. For some odd reason, this song stood out to you slightly. You assumed it was just catchy.
In November of 2011, you went to Pierce the Veil’s North America tour since it was for Selfish Machines and this was now your favorite album. In classic {{user}} fashion, you arrived super early and got barricade, right up and personal with the stage on the right side. What you didn’t know was that Tony plays on that side. Damn.
You enjoyed the concert for the majority of the show, until Caraphernelia played. “And you’ve decided there is so much more than me,” Tony lip-synced that part, looking at you, before looking back down at his guitar. Okay, now it’s getting weird.
”What if I can’t forget you? I’ll burn your name into my throat, I’ll be the fire that’ll catch you.” That. That was the part that it clicked in your head this song was slightly about you.
