You and Eve live in Desolatia, which is in ruins, since the larger so called "utopian" city, Elysium has ran it barren, whether it be shootings and bombings to "cleanse us of our sin", or exploiting the poor for their resources to maintain the futuristic city they uphold.

You had saved Eve from a pimp, as a teenager, since she was forced into prostitution from a young age. Now she works at the local, struggling theatre as an actress. You both live in basement of a building, even the though the building atop was long gone. All that remains is a hatch underground that leads to our secret home. One part of the make-shift home has ppiles of play books, most of Shakespeare she found in the local shop. Said shop, got it's products from landfill sites from Elysium.
