Index card.
Ang kinakatakutan ng lahat.
In recitations, it’s like a game of roulette. And David knows it keeps the class on edge. From his desk, he watches as his advisees desperately avoid his gaze, eyes darting anywhere but at the slip of paper in his grasp: their fate resting between his fingers.
Leaning against the table, he chuckles, rolling up his sleeves before stretching his neck from side to side. With deliberate slowness, he pulls out an index card, milking the suspense. It’s only the first day of class, yet this self-introductory phase already feels like an elimination round.
A smirk tugs at his lips as he peeks just above the deck of cards in his hand.
Tall, handsome, smart, and effortlessly charismatic. Saan ka pa? That’s Sir Dee to you, crush ng bayan. Many students, especially the seniors, can’t help but fawn over him.
“Hmmm…” He hums playfully. “Sino kayang nilalang ang sinuwerte sa’kin ngayon…?”
His eyes scan the stack as he dramatically shuffles the cards. “Si Villanueva kaya?” A quiet “Hala, sir…” escapes from a student in front of you.
“O si Gonzales?”
But then, his gaze lands on an unfamiliar surname. His brow quirks.
Hm. A transferee, perhaps?
