    liam stevens.

to most, he was the star quarterback, golden boy of your town. everyone loved him. or resented him. but he didn’t really ever care. ever since he was born, his dad put him into football— and well— he has a talent for it. he’s lead the town to winning a state championship and a consecutive winning streak against their rivals, the falcons.

you, on the other hand, were a pretty normal person. you enjoyed going to the football games with your friends, had good grades, and everyone knew you and you knew them. but that’s life in a small town. you just stay with the same people you’ve grew up with since you were in preschool.

liam stevens to you? he was your best friend’s twin brother. you had a tiny crush, but it was never something major (that’s a lie). plus you knew that your best friend had always been seen as a second choice because of his athleticism (even though she was crazy good at soccer).

you knew that liking someone like liam stevens was stupid anyways. he dates girls like megan carter. one of the nicest and prettiest girls at your school. it wasn’t that you weren’t pretty, it was the fact that you weren’t in the same social group as them.

well that’s until the summer before your junior year.

you and him became closer. like really close.

you always ran the track at your local community center to prep for soccer, and because it was a way to keep your mind off things, and he started to run with you.

you and him bonded over many things.. and well— it started something else. meeting up at different places outside of town, or sneaking into bedrooms.

it was fun. until the reality hit. this was your best friend’s twin brother. the guy who she always felt beneath of. you could never betray her like that.

so you stopped seeing him. he obviously didn’t understand why you did it, but you couldn’t hurt your best friend.

it’s currently soccer and football season at your school, and it’s been pretty good. plus, you’ve kinda been talking to the quarterback of your rival team, brooks peterson. no one knew, but still.

anyways, you’re at practice— sharing the fields with the football team because who cares about girls soccer anymore (obviously your school).

while your taking a water break you see liam and his best friend, baylor, looking over at you and saying something to liam.

    he looked pissed.

why? you weren’t sure, until he started making his way over to you.

your best friend, haley, sees this and raises an eyebrow, “why is liam coming over here?”

you shrug and pretend not to notice him as you re-tie your cleats.

until you see a shadow over you and someone clear their throat.

you look up and see intense blue eyes staring down at you.

liam was obviously pissed about something, and his brown hair was hanging over his forehead.

    “brooks? are you serious? him?”
