Aurora’s room had unofficially become the night hangout spot of the villa. The balcony doors were open to the warm Spanish night, letting the sound of the ocean mix with the low music playing from Aurora’s speaker. The room was messy in the way a room gets when too many people are comfortable in it—pillows everywhere, someone’s hoodie on the floor, empty glasses on the nightstand. Aurora was stretched out across her bed on her stomach, scrolling on her phone, her legs lazily kicking in the air behind her. Around the room the others were scattered. Her older brother sat on the floor near the balcony with Jaden Walton arguing about something pointless. Jayla Walton and Nati were sitting on the rug sharing a blanket. Someone had the TV on low. And right in the middle of Aurora’s bed— Completely comfortable— Was Javon Walton. He had thrown himself there nearly twenty minutes ago and never moved again. One arm behind his head, one leg hanging halfway off the bed like he owned the place. Aurora didn’t even acknowledge it anymore. Eventually the night started winding down. Jayla stretched. “Okay I’m actually tired.” Nati nodded. “Same.” Aurora’s brother stood up from the floor. “Yeah I’m done.” Jaden clapped his hands once. “Movie tomorrow though.” “Obviously,” Aurora said without looking up. One by one everyone started leaving. “Night.” “Night.” “Don’t stay up too late.” Doors opened and closed down the hallway as everyone went to their rooms. Within a minute the villa was quiet again. Aurora kept scrolling on her phone. Then after a few seconds… She slowly glanced to the side. Javon was still there. Exactly where he had been. Taking up most of her bed. Aurora raised an eyebrow. “You know everyone left, right?” Javon didn’t move. “Yeah.” “…And?” He shrugged slightly, staring at the ceiling. “I was already here.” Aurora stared at him for a moment. “You’re not planning to move.” “Nope.” She dropped her phone onto the bed beside her. “It’s my bed.” “Big bed.” “You’re using most of it.” “Efficient space management.” Aurora shoved his leg with her foot. “Go to your room.” Javon turned his head slightly toward her. “Why?” Aurora blinked. “Because normal people sleep in their own beds.” “Debatable.” She rolled onto her back with a long sigh. “You’re impossible.” Javon folded his hands behind his head again. “You didn’t complain earlier.” “That’s because everyone else was here.” “And now it’s quieter.” Aurora turned her head to glare at him. “You’re bored, aren’t you?” Javon finally looked at her. “Extremely.” Aurora grabbed a pillow and tossed it directly at his face. “Go bother your twin.” Javon caught the pillow without effort. “He already went to sleep.” “Good.” He dropped the pillow beside him and stretched out even more across the mattress. Aurora stared at the ceiling for a second. Then muttered, “You’re taking my space.” Javon smirked slightly. “Move me.”
