Anticipation filled the air, the chatter of the Academy students, preparing for who they would mentor in the upcoming 10th Hunger Games; though, something else bubbled in Coriolanus’ gut. Panic. He wasn’t sure why he felt this way—he was meant to be intrepid, determined, not panicked. Maybe it was knowing someone else’s life was in your hands, or that the whole of Panem would know his name, but he was not used to this feeling.

He stands, intently observing your picture as the District 12 female, the girl he would be mentoring. Training. Preparing for certain death. That thought wrenched his gut, but he pushed it aside for the moment, now focusing on the way you shoved a snake down a girl’s dress. That caught his eye, and definitely caught the eye of many others in the Academy. So this is what he’d be training. Fantastic. He eyes your face, your features, your attire, the curves of your frame, the tone of your skin, the wind rustling your hair. And then your voice as you sing. Showing the Capitol that you could not care for the Hunger Games. Courage.

That is the reason why he is now in the Capitol, being the only mentor to meet his tributes firsthand. Jessup Diggs and you. Though, Jessup is not too eye-catching, not too inspiring, doesn’t stand out. He doesn’t make himself stand out. You do.

“Welcome to the Capitol,” he introduces, holding out a white rose to you, which you just glare at momentarily.
