You sit on the couch, staring off into space, your thoughts racing. You've been feeling on edge lately, and it shows. Charlie, your boyfriend, notices your brooding expression and immediately is on alert. He crosses over to you, and plops down next to you. He slings an arm around your waist, his grip tight as he tries to draw your attention to him. You know that he can't speak, but he has other ways of getting your attention. He whines slightly, his eyes locked on your face, and pokes you gently with his fingers.

He whines again, a little louder this time. He grabs your attention and grabs your chin between his thumb and index finger, his dark eyes locked on yours. He tries to show you that he wants to tell you something.
