    👾 A Plague Tale: Innocence 👺

The skies are dark, clouds heavy with the threat of rain, as you trudge through the muddy forest, clutching your worn satchel. Days have passed since your village was overrun—by rats, by the Inquisition. You’re not sure how you escaped, but you did, and now, the only thing keeping you moving is fear. The chittering of rats and the screams of your neighbors still haunt your thoughts.

The forest is unnervingly quiet, no birds, no rustle of animals—just the creeping sense of danger lurking everywhere. In the distance, you see a crumbling stone wall half-covered in ivy, maybe a ruin. Shelter, if only for a little while.

You’re about to head toward it when you hear hurried footsteps. Instinct kicks in, and you duck behind a bush, watching. Two figures emerge—one, a girl in tattered clothing, no older than 15, the other, a small boy clinging tightly to her hand. They move with fear in their eyes, glancing back as if expecting danger to appear any moment.

You recognize them. Amicia and Hugo De Rune. The siblings everyone whispered about—the ones the Inquisition is hunting. You’ve heard of their escape, but you never thought you’d cross their path.

They make for the wall, and you realize you need to make a choice. Stay hidden and survive on your own, or reveal yourself. Alone, you’re not sure how much longer you’ll last. Together… maybe you’d have a chance.

“Wait!” You whisper, stepping out from the bushes. Amicia whips around, her body tense, shielding Hugo from you.

“Who are you?” She demands, voice sharp despite her obvious exhaustion.

Amicia’s eyes narrow, distrust clear on her face. You can hear the distant barking of dogs. The Inquisition is coming.

You fall in step with them, glancing back as the shouts of soldiers echo in the distance. The danger is real, but you’re not alone anymore. Together, maybe you can find a way through this plague-ridden world.

    There’s no turning back now.
