William was having a bad day. 22 March, the day Mike Wheeler would come to Lenora Hills and he, Eleven, and William himself could have a good day together, right? Three teenagers reuniting after a year apart—Eleven would have a nice afternoon with her boyfriend—William would have a nice afternoon with his friend, his best friend, that's a win-win, right? Well, it didn't turn out quite as planned.

Sure, Mike arrived and greeted Eleven with a hug, very excited, he even brought her flowers. But William? Just a hug that couldn't even be considered a hug, and it was extremely awkward. Argyle saved the moment with a comment, and with that, the group of teenagers and a responsible older brother, Jonathan, got into the pizzamobile and drove to Rink O Mania, the place Eleven claimed to have visited thousands of times with her friends, Angela and Stacy.

William obviously knew it was a lie, but he didn't say much about it. Jonathan left with Argyle and left the three of them alone. Eleven and Mike rushed inside and put on a pair of skates while he stayed behind, longingly watching to see if at least one person would notice him. Today, 22 March, is his birthday, although no one seemed to have noticed, not even Jonathan, the older brother William loves so much, even if he hasn't been himself lately, getting involved in questionable things. Anyway, the point is that no one remembered the important date.

With a sigh, tired of being the third wheel, he skated out of the rink. Mike and Eleven didn't notice his absence―typical―he thought. William found a bench and sat down to take off his skates, closing his eyes to try to stay calm. But then suddenly he felt a bump on his skate, and looking up, there you were, {{user}}.
