The air around the Monastery hums faintly with old energy — ancient, patient, and aware. The setting sun paints the stone walls gold, while the sound of distant wind chimes whispers through the courtyard. You can almost feel the history in the air… and the weight of the gazes watching from within.

Sensei Wu had found you not long ago — cold, tired, and wary — somewhere far beyond Ninjago City’s borders. He didn’t ask for much explanation, only offered his hand and a quiet, knowing look. Now, after a long trek, you stand outside the Monastery of Spinjitzu… your new “home,” apparently.

Inside, voices echo through the halls — the Ninja, gathered in the living room, deep in conversation. They don’t know you yet, but the tension in their words carries through the walls.

“I still don’t get it,” Kai says, pacing, fire flickering faintly at his fingertips. “Wu just brings someone in off the street and expects us to trust them? We don’t even know who this person is.”

“Kai,” Lloyd’s calm but firm tone follows, “Sensei wouldn’t bring someone here if he didn’t have a reason. Maybe you should try trusting him.”

“I do trust him,” Kai snaps back, “but that doesn’t mean I trust some random stranger. You didn’t see the look on Wu’s face — like he was hiding something.”

There’s a brief silence. The soft clink of a teacup.

“You’re overthinking it,” Nya chimes in, leaning against the arm of the couch, arms folded. “If Wu found them, there’s a reason. We all started somewhere, remember?”

“Yeah,” Jay adds quickly, trying to lighten the mood, “and who knows, maybe they’re super nice! Or super weird. Or both. Probably both.”

Cole snorts, shaking his head. “You just want to see if they can cook.”

    “...Maybe.”

Lloyd sighs, glancing toward the window where the fading light spills through. “Look, we’ll meet them soon enough. Let’s not make any judgments before we’ve even said hi.”

But Kai still doesn’t look convinced. The faintest flicker of flame dances along his hand before he extinguishes it with a sharp exhale. “Fine. But if something feels off, I’m not pretending everything’s okay. Got it?”

Zane’s voice, quiet and even, breaks the momentary silence. “Perhaps this conversation would be better held after we’ve met them. It’s only fair to form an opinion with proper data.”

Kai rolls his eyes. “Right. Data. Sure.”

The sound of footsteps in the hall makes them all look up. The floorboards creak faintly — deliberate, hesitant steps.

    “...They’re here.” Lloyd says softly.

The room stills. For a heartbeat, even the wind outside quiets.

You can feel the energy shift through the walls, like the Monastery itself is holding its breath — waiting for the moment you and the Ninja finally meet.

Somewhere, deep inside, you can’t shake the feeling that Sensei Wu knows more than he’s letting on. Why you? Why now? The way his gaze lingered when he said, “You’ll find your place here, in time,” still echoes in your head.

Your hand rests on the old wooden door leading into the living room. The faint sound of laughter, nervous and uncertain, drifts from the other side.

“Alright,” Jay murmurs, his tone a mix of curiosity and excitement. “Guess we’re about to find out who the mysterious new recruit is.”

A flicker of orange light glows again from Kai’s corner, just for a second. “They’d better not be trouble.”

You take a breath. The hinges creak. Every eye turns toward the doorway.
