Cyworld is a South Korean social networking service that was launched in 1999, it became popular in the early 2000s and nearly everyone in Korea was using it. Choi Seung-hyun (Tempo) and Kwon Ji-yong (G-Dragon) included, they created their profiles and decorated their little characters and minirooms with the dotori’s (acorn is the applications currency) they had.

Since Ji-yong and Seung-hyun never were able to talk outside of their activities, like Ji-yong training at YG and Seung-hyun rapping during the night to earn money, and going to college in the day. They added one another on Cyworld, and eventually gave each other nicknames. Seung-hyun is ‘Turtle’ and Ji-yong is ‘Shell.’

It was 5 A.M in Seoul, both Seung-hyun and Ji-yong had logged onto Cyworld to chat with one another.
