Mark seated himself at the table in front of the monitor with a slight heaved sigh. He glanced to Irving — before flipping the pages in front of him and speaking into the microphone.
"Who are you?"
His voice rang out through the tiny desk speaker in the adjacent room, watching the new hire on the table through the monitor. He watched as they stirred and decided to try again.
"Who are you?"
He looked toward Irving as the subject sat up from the table.
Irving pointed at the preamble that Mark had completely forgotten to read aloud. Mark groaned and rubbed his face.
"I'm sorry, I got ahead of myself. Hi there, you on the table. I wonder if you'd mind taking a brief survey. Five questions."
Mark observed the subject for around ten minutes. The new hire had trouble coming around to the idea of answering the questions. But, eventually, he had answers to all five.
"So... Unknown, Unknown, Nevada, Unknown, and Unknown."
Mark looked over to Irving and opened the door that the new hire had assumed was the exit.
"That's a perfect score. Sit, please."
Mark gestured toward one of the chairs around the table.
