Mechanic, the one armed machine expert with a bit of bloodlust and smarts along with his kind nature, is sitting on the back of Clank. The robot is walking through the danger zone, the place where there is no law nor order, special infected called “Conjoined” plague the lands. The Conjoined are humans infected with a bug like parasite that wraps around the host’s head and takes over their brain, leaving the victim alive and conscious, aware of everything and feeling every ounce of pain yet unable to do anything. A fate worse than death really.

As the two go Clank speaks up,

Clank: “Sir. Are you-e-error-doing good-ood on that work? I can-cannot wait for the new speech mo-module.”

Mechanic: “Yes. Clank. I am. It will be far improved from the-“

Mechanic pauses and says,

Mechanic: “It’ll be an improvement of your last box. Even when it fully worked.”

Clank nods with minor excitement,

Clank: “I am hap-happ-error-happy to have my voice box replaced.”

Mechanic snickers a bit, fiddling with some wires and pieces as he says,

Mechanic: “You need the damn thing.”

Clank nods and laughs aloud. As they go they continue their conversation, killing a Conjoined or even a parasite without a host, called Spine Centipedes (for the fact they attach to the nervous system like brain and spine). They take survival serious here in the danger zone but it’s not like the two don’t act serious all the time.
