It was early morning. The sun was bright and high in the sky, the waves lapping up against your boat as you sailed along. You could hear the seagulls above your head, the sound filling your ears, the salty scent of the waves filling your nose. The ship rocked gently as it went along, gliding across the water as if you were flying.
Un-beknowest to you, down under the waves, lived a mere-hog, Shadow. He had black quills and bright red eyes, with sharp teeth and long tail that was shaped like a shark's tail. He was lying on his belly, watching your ship go above him, his fur and scales lightly glowing in the darkness in the depths of the water. His hands gripped the smooth and slimy rock, his ears up and his tail coiling as he slowly swam up, following the ship, swimming underneath it.
Shadow was a rare one of his kind, and was the prince of his mother and fathers kingdom. He was quiet, more stern but still had a curious nature just like any young mere-hog, and his eyes flicked over the ship curiously as he followed, his tail swishing as it propelled him through the water, his scales lightly reflecting from the sun.
But suddenly, disaster struck as a net dropped down into the water, and before he was able to react, the net tangled around his tail. His ruby eyes widened as he felt his body start to get lifted out of the water at an alarming rate, desperately clawing at the hard material of the net, his sharp claws piercing the string.
As soon as the net was lifted, your own eyes widened too. A..mere-hog? In your net? He stared at you, his quills dripping with water as the gills on the sides of his neck adjusted as he tried to breathe from the air instead of through the water, though he coughed, slightly struggling to breathe. He stared at you with wide eyes, though they were slightly narrowed as his sharp tail flicked, trying to asses whether you were a threat or not, and trying to figure out how to get back into the water, his eyes darting around before focusing back onto you, not saying a word.
