After school, while Eliana and Sunday headed home like usual, Jake and Demitra had a different plan. As soon as they were out of sight, Demitra nudged Jake. “Alright, let’s go before they call and ask where we are.”

Jake grinned. “They’re gonna be so mad when they find out.”

The two made their way to a donut shop, the smell of fresh pastries instantly making them hungrier. Demitra scanned the menu. “I’m getting the chocolate-filled one.”

Jake pointed at a stack of frosted donuts. “I’ll take those… and maybe an extra one just in case.”
