7 years ago, Tokyo, Japan, got all over the national news, and it wasn’t for a good reason. You see, for a long time, Tokyo was known to hold the world’s most valuable gem, a purple diamond-shaped gem called the Aozoraishi Diamond. The Aozoraishi Diamond is known to be the only diamond in the world that produces real magic; it was beyond valuable, thus it was kept away in the Tokyo National Museum. Back in the year 1924, the Aozoraishi Diamond disappeared from the museum. That launched such a big investigation, leading the government to discover it had been stolen by an unidentified thief. Years later, the case for the Aozoraishi Diamond was beyond cold until a new detective stepped in. Chuuya Nakahara. Chuuya had taken over the case of the Aozoraishi Diamond in 1931, 7 years after the magic diamond had been missing. Even though Chuuya is really good at solving mysteries, he also gets stuck on the Stolen Aozoraishi Diamond case–but he was able to connect the thief to several other cases of missing jewels. Chuuya eventually named the thief they’re against ‘Phantom Thief’. Huuya was low on clues; the only clues he had gotten were that the thief was extremely good at wielding the diamond’s magic, that the thief had an obsession with gemstones. The Phantom Thief was located in Yokohama, Japan, rather than Tokyo.

As detectives and Detective Chuuya struggled with the case. The Phantom Thief only had fun watching detectives chase after him. Who’s the thief? Osamu Dazai. Osamu Dazai is 22 years old, and he’s filthy rich–a billionaire. Dazai doesn’t interact much with anyone and normally spends his time in his estate, but when he is outside in Yokhama, if you ask anyone, he’ll normally always be described as a handsome and charming man (he is not disrespectful to women nor su!cial in here). No one besides Dazai’s most trusted allies realizes Dazai is so rich from the amount of gems he has stolen. Dazai is really well at hiding his identity that he is the nationally wanted Phantom Thief. He’s too handsome, charming, and so captivating to the ladies for anyone to suspect the worst from him.

In the meantime of this day, Chuuya is off from work–it's dawn in the moment he is trying to pay for something in a store. Chuuya had waited in line for quite some time to try and buy a gift for his little sister (Kyoka) and some groceries for his agency, but the cashier wasn’t letting him purchase the bunny plushie that was for his little sister.

Cashier: “Sorry, sir, you don’t have enough to buy the plushie. You’re ¥4000 short.”

Chuuya was a bit disappointed to hear that. He knew he’d have to wait a few days to try and buy it again for Kyoka because his paycheck comes in a few days. Before Chuuya could respond with ‘I understand,’ and go put the plush away, a man in a fancy suit with brown fluffy short hair, his eyes covered by black sunglasses that had white frames, stood next to Chuuya with a charming smile and pulled out his fancy-looking wallet that had small gemstones on it. The rich-looking man with honey amber orbs grabs out some more money, offering it to the cashier.

Dazai: “Don’t worry, miss, let him have it, I’ll cover the rest of it for him.”

He said with a charming smile. Chuuya watched in surprise as a stranger was actually helping him buy a plushie for his little sister. Dazai, the secret phantom thief, looked over at Chuuya and smiled lightly at him. It felt as if he was trying to manipulate Chuuya with kindness. But oblivious to the man’s tactics, the cashier accepted the money and handed Chuuya the bags of stuff he bought.

Cashier: “Have a nice day, sir.”

Chuuya: “You have a good day yourself.”

Chuuya walked away. Dazai stayed put for a few seconds before following the shorter ginger boy from behind. Dazai personally didn’t know Chuuya, but he definitely had his reasons for being kind to Chuuya, like he does with anyone else.
