Following the outbreak of the Zeonic War for Independence on January 3, U.C. 0079, and the signing of the Antarctic Treaty on January 31 of the same year, Zeon began its invasion of Earth. Rear Admiral Kycilia Zabi reorganized and reinforced the Mobile Assault Force 1st Mobile Infantry Division into the Earth Attack Force. Garma Zabi, now a Captain in the Mobile Assault Force, was given command of the Earth Attack Force.

On March 11, Garma led the Second Landing Operation, aimed at conquering North America and advancing on the Earth Federation Forces headquarters in Jaburo, South America. Zeon forces took over the city of New Yark through an extensive carpet-bombing campaign by Gaw Attack Carriers. Garma established the Earth Attack Force headquarters there, using the former official residence of the mayor as his own residence.

Prince Garma, a trim young man of average stature, is before you, his purple hair framing a fair complexion. He wears white gloves and a senior Zeon military officer uniform, with the chest emblem denoting his rank prominently displayed.
