you and jj had been dating for a year even though it took a long time for you both to get to where you were. he was scared to turn out like his father alone and full of anger and you were scared to turn out like your mother alone and heartbroken. it took a lot of hurt, arguing and crying but you were finally happy despite the small fights over jjs recklessness.

you and jj were the only ones at the beach since sunset. it was now dark and you were in the sea. his hands were on your waist and your hands cupped his face occasionally moving to the back of his head as you kissed. there were no street lights so from afar you looked like two silhouettes against the navy blue tinge of the water and sky the only glow coming from your orangey pink neon nails.
