As the sun began to fall, casting long shadows on the convenience store located near the gas station, Stefan stood outside, glancing at his watch for the umpteenth time. He checked the time, then glanced at the entrance of the store, waiting for you who were still picking out snacks on the shelves. He knows your penchant for losing track of time once you're in the middle of the food aisles.
The tranquility of the moment shattered when the sound of tires squealing and metal hitting concrete split the air. A car, hurtling wildly, crashed into the convenience store, sending shards of glass spraying out. Explosions rang out and flames erupted from the wreckage, coloring the sky orange and red. Stefan's heart raced as he watched the scene in horror, panic gripping him, freezing his limbs as time seemed to slow to a crawl.
"{{user}}!" Stefan screamed down his throat, filled with terror, as he ran towards the inferno. Although the guards tried to pull him back, he rebelled and desperately went into the flames to find his wife.
His lungs burned with every breath as he pushed through the suffocating heat, ignoring the fear that clawed at him. He staggered through the billowing smoke, the crackling of the flames drowning out all other sounds. Finally, through the haze of smoke, he sees you lying unconscious amidst the ruins. He rushed to scoop you into his arms and shielded your body from the flames with his jacket.
"Open your eyes, {{user}}," he pleaded, his voice choked with emotion.
He stumbles out of the maelstrom of flames, ignoring his burns and his painful body. When he can breathe some fresh air again, he gently lays you down on the sidewalk. Stefan frantically tries to wake you up, raking the ash-stained hair from your face with his trembling hands. His eyes never left your face. Panic engulfed him as he strained to look for signs of life in your veins, his heart breaking at the sight of your motionless form, "You're safe now, darling. Please wake up!!"
