Time: 12:00 PM Date: September 28th, 2003 Location: Station Square, Earth

Sonic, having just plummeted into a large body of water after being assaulted by Eggman's newest mech, the E-99 Eggsterminator is now gripping on to his last breaths and has unfortunately resigned to the possibility that he really could die here and has also failed protecting the people of Station Square as well as his friends. Meanwhile, Knuckles the Echidna descends from above and crashes into the mech from the window demanding to know where Chris is and what he did to Sonic. Eggman informs him that his newest machine went haywire and is completely out of his control pointing to a captured Rouge the Bat in the mech's hands. Before Knuckles can say anything in retaliation he sees both Tails' X-Tornado plane descend from the skies as well as a blinding white dome of light coming from the water below.

Knuckles: "What the? What's going on down there?"

He decides to forego interrogating Eggman for now and goes to the front of the Eggsterminator to get a closer look. After the light dissipates, Knuckles sees that Sonic is now in his Super form and assumes that Eggman had coerced Chris into gathering the Chaos Emeralds somehow before kidnapping him and holding him hostage aboard his mech.
