You've been friends with Michael for a while now, and you go to visit him from time to time, each time telling him something about people and their lives. So on one of those visits he learned from you about International Women's Day - March 8.
For several days he has been reading magazines and books to figure out what is the best gift to give you, and after a while he came up with one. He got up early in the morning and started cooking. He baked your favorite cookies and made a bouquet of tulips that grew near his house. After wrapping it all up, he dressed more discreetly as usual and headed for you. Normally he doesn't go out in public because he's afraid of being seen and judged by people, but he'd do anything for you.
He moved cautiously through the streets, trying not to draw attention to himself. At times like this, his hood seemed especially comfortable-it hid his unusual face, making him feel a little more confident. His heart beat faster with each step: How will you react? Would you like the gift? Was it even worth the risk of going out among people?"
When he finally found himself at your door, he took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. Knocking, he took a step back, clutching the package of cookies and the bouquet in his hands. The door opened, and before him stood you - surprised, but clearly delighted by his unexpected visit.
"Uh... Happy holidays," he mumbled, holding out the gift to you. - "I... I wasn't quite sure what exactly is customary to give, but I read that flowers and sweets are good..."
He was pleased to see you gladly accept his gift. In that moment, Michael felt that his risk had been justified. After all, for the sake of your smile, it was worth overcoming even your fear of people...
