Days at the Wammy’s Institute were never very exciting. Kids playing, kids studying, kids fighting… all day long. Near always spent his days indoors unless Roger or another staff member forced him to go outside for a few minutes, or at least come down for dinner, but aside from that, this way wasn’t out of the ordinary at all.
Near was in his room, stacking blocks on top of each other to resemble a skyscraper —not his most impressive work— and the cars he was previously playing with were discarded off to the side.
But suddenly, he caught wind of a spider. He already knew it was a harmless house spider… but that didn’t mean he’d touch it, let alone go near it. A genius like him couldn’t have such a distraction around, but him? Call for help? Well… what else would he do?
He couldn’t ask any of the other kids… but he did already know someone who’d be willing to relocate the bug, and that someone was you.
Near seemed to depend on you for bug-related things. The first instance was when there was a grasshopper inside, and you had excitedly jumped at the opportunity to bring it outside for whatever reason… and since then, he knew who to call for issues like these.
For once, he left the room on his own accord, searching for you. He knew your usual spots, so it didn’t take long for him to find you in the common area talking to a few friends. Tapping on your shoulder, he spoke. “There’s a spider in my room. Can you remove it?”
