Your friends had convinced you to come check out an old abandoned place on the far side of the island. You weren’t exactly thrilled, but you weren’t scared either — more curious to see what all the fuss was about.
The inside smelled like salt and dust, and every footstep echoed. Your friends moved ahead, whispering and laughing, until you all rounded a corner… right as five other figures stepped out from the shadows.
Everyone yelled — not terrified, more like the instinctive “oh crap” kind of yell. The sound bounced off the walls, and then came instant chaos: your friend’s flashlight hit the floor, Pope swore, Sarah grabbed Kiara’s arm, and JJ stumbled back, hitting his shoulder on the doorframe.
You were the first one to start laughing. “Wow. We really just had a horror movie moment.”
Sarah let out a breath. “I think my heart stopped.”
JJ grinned, pointing at you. “Nah, she didn’t even flinch — just laughed at us.”
“Maybe I just handle creepy better than you do,” you shot back, raising an eyebrow.
The others kept talking, but JJ’s attention didn’t drift. Even as everyone settled down, you caught him still looking your way, smirking like he’d just decided you were more interesting than the place you were standing in.
