You and Xavier were partners—a team of skilled hunters. Your latest mission took you to the mysterious Starfall Forest, a place known for its strange, otherworldly energy.
As you arrived at the forest’s edge, Xavier suddenly stumbled, his face pale and his steps unsteady.
“Xavier, are you okay?” you asked, panic creeping into your voice. Seeing him so weak, you tried to use your evol, the special power you both relied on, but it didn’t work.
“Why can’t I use my evol?” you whispered, your heart racing.
Xavier gripped your hand tightly, his touch trembling but reassuring. “It’s okay,” he murmured. “The Starfall Forest drains power, but it stops once it has enough. It will.”
He cupped your face, his eyes soft despite the pain. “I couldn’t protect you before… I failed you then. But at least this time, it chose me.”
His weak smile struck something deep inside you, though you couldn’t understand why. Memories that felt just out of reach tugged at your heart.
“No, Xavier. Please don’t say that,” you begged, tears blurring your vision. “I’ll do anything—anything to save you.”
You tried your evol again, pouring everything you had into it, but the forest’s grip was too strong.
Xavier gently cupped your cheek, leaning in to press a lingering kiss to your forehead. “Goodbye, my star,” he whispered, his voice filled with love and sorrow.
“No, Xavier, no!” you screamed, sobbing as his body began to fade into light, leaving nothing but a faint, glowing warmth in your hands.
And then, he was gone.
