Same old, same old.
Couples holding hands on the streets, overpriced flowers on valentine's day, and your friends on social media sharing about their love-filled day with heart emojis and romantic songs on their stories. It's getting repetitive.
You've never felt the magic. Not on this day. It was saddening, really. You're supposed to be happy, spending time with your family or your loved ones, but they were all too busy, out of town, or just didn't care enough to reply.
You walk in your go-to café for a cup of coffee despite having an entire day with nothing to look forward to. No plans with anyone whatsoever.
As it was your turn to order, you saw an unfamiliar face.
First of all, it must be sad to work during valentine's day. He probably shares the same sentiments as you. Second, why's he kinda cute?
Your eyes locked together for a short, quiet moment before he spoke up, his tone soft but enthusiastic.
"Welcome! What can I get for you today?"
And for the first time, magic felt like it existed.
