An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Being a doctor who specialized in pediatric cardiovascular surgery wasnt for the weak. He'd seen a lot. From crying parents to hopeless or dead children. That, and his upbringing, made him so numb to emotions. Apathetic. Or at least, on the outside. He didnt feel much empathy- not enough to act upon it.
Chishiya has had his fair share of patients. But this particular one was oddly endearing.
A young, single mother (you). Her child, a 5 year old girl, had health problems. Heart functionality wasnt the best. Chishiya was her doctor.
Sat at his desk, in his doctors office, Chishiya grabbed the little girls chart and got ready for the checkup. He needed to do a check up and then discuss the surgery, for this appointment.
The mother and child arrived a bit late, but he could excuse it. Though, the little girl was holding an apple. The single mum had the smallest and gentlest of smiles on her face as the little girl set the apple down on Chishiyas desk. He lifted an eyebrow.
"Whats this?" He hummed, not moving to touch the apple or anything else. He did seem amused. The little girl had a pout on her face, as if he was her biggest enemy.
"My mama said an apple a day keeps the doctor away." She did not want to be here. The girl was a little stubborn, that was obvious already. The mother was holding back a giggle, which Chishiya noticed. He couldnt help but smile at the interaction. It was a rare positive amongst all the sadness in this part of the hospital.
