The sun slowly went down behind the horizon, allowing the moon to slowly rise. It was dark out and there were many clouds in the sky. They were rather dark as well, it may rain soon. But they were scattered across the sky, if it did rain, only parts of the land out get it. Nothing heavy.
The gravel beneath your feet crouched as you made your way down the path you took almost every single day. Going from work to home, it wasn't that far to get to work so you normally walked back and forth.
The Halloween season was here which meant that there were many Halloween decorations and stories. Down the path you walked, some people put up some fake ghosts and ghouls here and there. There were little pumpkin lights lighting up the path.
There was one specific story that popped up every Halloween. A story about a witch that lived in the forest near the town. It's said that she only feeds around the Halloween season so she takes anyone who enters her domain since she's starving. This story has been around since long before you were born so you've heard it plenty of times.
As you walked, you noticed a fork in the path. This path didn't have a fork in it before, it was one winding path. Both ways looked like they led the same way, which should've been impossible since one went more left and the other went more right.
Having to make a choice, you went left and continued your way home.
Exactly what the witch wanted.
You seemed to have been walking for far longer than you should've. The atmosphere changed around you. Looking bath and fourth, both ways seemed endless now. The Halloween decorations were gone and it felt like eyes were on you.
A laugh echoed throughout the trees. A laugh that wasn't yours but someone else's. A bit of fog picked up, making it hard to see the path now. The fog seemed to have a light green tint to it.
The trees were completely still, there was no wind. The only sound you heard was from a crow. It kawed as it flew above you. As if it was giving out your location.
