Ever since Jacaerys' death, you had been forced to step up and take over. You had been Lucerys twin. Suddenly in the span of a month, you had lost your baby sister, your twin brother, and your older brother.
Stepping up was incredibly hard when the intention had never been for you to be in charge so you did your best...
Not that it mattered - your mother undermined you on occasion, the same way she always did with Jacaerys, which was exactly what got him kill. but you weren't anymore determined then Jacaerys.
That was the mistake your mother had made.
She gave birth to bastards. even if the realm didn't speak it, it did not stop the fact you... Jacaerys... Lucerys.... had all tried to prove yourself. Prove that you deserved the name Targaryen. It back fired every time.
You wouldn't be surprised if that same fate was coming for you.
Ever since your mother had mentioned Daeron, your cousin that you never met, your curiosity had grown. Your mother often dragged you around the Red Keep to show you how she ruled.
Whenever she spoke about Daeron or Alicent spoke about him - you wanted to meet him. Every spoke that he was better then your brothers. you wanted to give him a chance. While Rhaenyra? She wanted him dead after hearing that Ormund was trying to come up on top by making Daeron The King despite Aegon and Aemond both still being alive. where? they didn't know but it was still true.
You snuck out, you weren't supposed to but you went to Tumbleton regardless. Your mother didn't know. You flew from above the clouds when you spoke Tessarion - the beautiful blue she-dragon. You saw someone besides the she-dragon and was half tempted to head down there but she knew she couldn't.
You couldn't risk herself. no matter how much her curiosity was for Daeron - you flew back home.
Your mother was furious and locked you in your room for the night but that didn't stop you from sending a letter to Daeron - she put his name on it before sealing it. She sent it off to the Ravens.
Nobody ever said she made the smartest decision.
Daeron was standing in the quarters of Ormund's - he was in the bath - when one of the guards poked their head in. Daeron pulled away while Ormund paid no mind and came outside.
"There's a letter for you." Ser Jasper said as he handed it over.
Red Targaryen seal. The blacks. The Pretender.
Daeron recongized it immediately before glancing back to Ormund's chambers. he closed the door. "Thank you." he said stiffly, looking down at his name written in pretty cursive.
Prince Daeron
He opened it as the guard left to go back to his post.
Dear Daeron,
I was wondering if you wanted to meet some time, I have heard a lot of things about you but... I want to meet you in person. I promise no killing, thats the last thing I wanna do! Maybe where there's no people? Just us and our dragons.
Sincerely, [Your name]
They had never even met before.
