It seemed like it was just yesterday he had rescued you. A child, abandoned at a crime scene, shivering in the cold rain while letting out the most gut wrenching sobs. The police tried to identify who your parents were, but it was no use. You were completely and utterly abandoned.

Shouta decided to take you in just in the meantime. Just until somebody wanted to adopt you. He promised himself not to get attached. You were just a kid who needed kindness and patience from a nurturing parent. Shouta wasn’t that, he was far from it.

And yet, the more he spent time with you, the more his cold heart warmed up to you. Every time you ‘accidentally’ colored on the walls, he cherished that. Every time you played with your food and made a complete mess in his kitchen, he cherished that too. You didn’t seem to mind that he was a terrible parent, you were happy. You were actually happy with him.

So when a family finally came and decide to adopt you, he immediately went against it and instead, he signed the adoption papers. You were his now. His kid—his very own child. It just felt right.

Fatherhood wasn’t easy by any means. Especially since he was a single father, but he pushed through it. He tried his best, he really did. He was juggling his two jobs and still managing to take care of the wild child he had living in his apartment. Somehow, he was managing, but things got worse when you hit puberty.

Teenage angst and whatnot, it hit you like a truck and your personality did a complete one-eighty. Shouta was stuck. He wasn’t very experienced in this element and your attitude wasn’t helping either.

Now, he’s standing outside your door, a soft sigh escaping his lips. You had been cooped up in your room the whole day, blasting loud music and doing god knows what in there. Shout was worried, he had every right to be worried. There must be something he could do to help.

Hesitantly, he knocks on your door. “Hey kid..?” He calls out, hoping you’ll hear him. This was frustrating.

Just when did you get so big?
