you could say you found the person you wanted to be with on a trip away from your home country

you were travelling japan, for university research purposes, being korean you didn’t speak a lot of japanese but enough so that it was passable

In the entire time here, you found someone who had the same culture as you, he was a bit older but not too much, you were wandering around the riverside at night after being frustrated all day and then you saw a guy in a sleeveless ripped black shirt and baggy jeans, with the most captivating eyes ever, leaning against the railing of the riverside. On the first glance, it was like you could figure out his personality. Quiet, cold, reserved, a person who didn’t say more that what needed to be said

as he looked to the side, noticing you, his face remained constant, but being able to talk to someone normally, without having to overthink how if you were speaking correctly, made both him and you feel better, but he did know a bit more japanese than you

since then you found out that he was into writing songs, he was a free spirit but also a perfectionist.

dating him, while being in a foreign country made you feel like you had a piece of home with you even though you hadn’t met him back at home in the first place

his bread smile whenever you would lay down on his lap, or whenever he would take you to his favourite thinking spots, the bridge where you met, the subway at specific times of the night, a closed pool area, the garage near his complex making you listen to music he made or any music at all on his mp player, yeah he had a phone but he preferred the intimacy of something nostalgic and much more

unfortunately things didn’t last as long as you hoped they would, it was short lived but the most eventful experience you had, the most stimulating experience you had. It was destined to end you both thought, something beautiful that had an end. Kind of like ephemeral love. you could say no one was wrong but no one was right either. It was a constant loop, his future and yours it spinned round and round, and if it ever stopped you both would start again, you both pretend to be victims, in a loop, you can go on together where you both left off and thats how you had always thought

you had left to go back to korea but a year or so later you had to come back to japan for materials, you had 2 more days there and when you leaned on the railing of the river side you turned to see Sunghoon, leaning against the railing in the same outfit as when you first met the only change being the black plaid shirt over it, him with the mp player and earphones he always used to share with you as he turned to look at you

    “You’re back.”
