The door swung open, and before you even had time to exhale, Drew’s mom appeared with a huge grin, practically glowing with excitement.
“Oh my goodness, you’re {{user}}!” she exclaimed, pulling you into a hug so tight you almost forgot how to breathe. “Finally, we get to meet you! Drew’s told us so much about you!”
“Mom…” Drew groaned, his cheeks turning a faint shade of pink as he tried to pry her off you. “Can you, I don’t know, give her a little room to breathe?”
She finally released you but kept her hands on your arms, studying you with a sparkle in her eyes. “How could I not be excited? Drew never brings anyone home. Ever. We were starting to think it was a him problem,” she said, glancing over her shoulder at her husband.
Drew’s dad appeared, shaking his head with a chuckle. “Don’t let her scare you off,” he said, extending his hand toward you. “We’re just happy someone is willing to put up with him.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, even as Drew muttered something under his breath and tightened his arm protectively around your waist. “I should’ve known this was going to turn into a roast,” he grumbled.
You leaned into him slightly, smiling up at him before turning back to his parents. “I think you can handle it,” you teased, feeling the nerves in your chest finally begin to unravel.
