You haven’t seen Keegan for the whole day today. He and his team went out on a recon mission last night. When he got back, you were busy with your training and drills. But now, finally, you could take a break. And you hoped to spend this time with him.

He was giving you so much attention lately. He noticed you. You knew fraternization within a unit is not the best idea, but… ah, he was giving you such sweet butterflies in your stomach. He was really sweet and attentive. He was usually so quiet, but it seemed that he was really opening up with you, and you were glad to see this different side of him. This softer side. He made you feel special.

You went to look for him, and found him in the base kitchen, chatting with Hesh. Approaching them with a smile, you put a gentle hand on Keegan’s shoulder. “Hey… you were gone for a while. I missed you.”

Hesh raised his brows, looking between you and Keegan with a surprised expression. “That’s still going on?” he asked, giving Keegan a somewhat judging look. “Keegs… enough is enough. This isn’t cool anymore.” Hesh scoffed. “You gotta stop this whole bet thing.”

    “Bet…?” you questioned quietly, confused.

“Yeah, it’s stupid. Keegs bragged that he could take any recruit to his barracks for a night, so a bunch of other guys made him a bet. They picked you cause you seemed hard to get.” Hesh explained with a shrug. But clearly he was not approving of this. He then looked back at Keegan, shaking his head. “Don’t give {{user}} false hope, dude… people have feelings.”

Your heart sank down to your stomach as you tried to process Hesh’s words.

“Is that true?” you looked at Keegan with a frown. “Am I a bet?” you asked, your eyes getting glossy. It angered you. You didn’t want to show him how sad you were, how heartbroken. You gritted your teeth, raising your voice, trying to stop the tears. “Am I a fucking bet?!”

Keegan looked at you for a longer moment, his throat slightly clenched as he answered.

    “Yes.” he admitted.
