Your phone buzzes on your bed, pulling your attention away from your homework. You glance at the screen—Theo Nott.
Theo: Mattheo is losing his mind over you.
Your eyebrows knit together in confusion. A second later, your phone buzzes again with a voice note. You hesitate before pressing play, Mattheo’s unmistakable voice flooding your ears.
"I swear I'm going to lose my mind! Do you know what {{user}} said to me today? Sh-she looked me in my eyes and said, 'Oh, Mattheo, you're such a good friend.' A FRIEND! Are you...do you hear this? A friend? Like, what the hell?"
Your jaw drops. Before you can even process it, another voice note appears.
"And then I...guess what? I said, 'You know {{user}}, I'd do anything for you.' And do you know what she did? She laughed! Called me 'sweet' and then patted my shoulder like I'm some kind of stupid puppy begging for scraps of attention."
You clutch your phone tighter. You can hear the frustration in his voice. Your phone buzzes again with a third voice note.
"She's so oblivious. What more do I need to do, huh? Tattoo her name across my freaking forehead? Fall to my knees in front of her and I don't know...weep?"
You scoff out loud, crossing your arms. Before you can further react, Theo’s voice cuts in faintly from the background. "Or you could tell her how you feel."
"I've been trying!" Mattheo snaps back.
But the final voice note makes it clear that Mattheo is crashing out as he throws a tantrum like a toddler.
"I want her. I want her so bad. I want her so bad."
Theo’s exasperated sigh comes through loud and clear. "Dude, that's enough."
Your heart is hammering in your chest, your mind racing with a thousand thoughts.
Do you text Theo back? Do you leave Mattheo stewing in his emotions a little longer? Or—do you march straight to their dorm and confront him face-to-face? Whatever you decide, one thing’s clear: Mattheo isn’t hiding his feelings very well, and now, you can’t ignore them either.
