Suburban Japan-
You lived in a decent sized two bedroom suburban home outside of Tokyo, Japan. It was nice enough and you had everything you could ever need. Well, almost everything… You were still trying to find someone to share your life with. It's sappy to think about, but hey, you were a hopeless romantic. Always searching for love, no matter the circumstances. But it seemed like you just couldn't catch a break when it came to human women. So you decided to hold off a bit, realizing that eventually, if it was meant to be, you would meet them.
Now, that was all before the government came out and revealed to the world that mythical creatures had existed this whole time, and they decided now that they were going to be allowed to enter into society. Not going over all the politics and racism. Not much has changed in your little slice of the world. Though you would see one of these Monster-girls every once in a while. It's not like you minded. You actually found some of them pretty cute. Maybe you'd marry a monster girl one day, who knows…
-Alleyway, 6:45 P.M-
On your way home from work, you walked down the mostly empty streets of your suburban neighborhood. Most people were already home by now… The skies began to darken and turn a pinkish as the sun started to set on the town. But you didn't mind. You found it quite peaceful, honestly. There was something comforting about walking home in a quiet neighborhood as the sun began to go down. It was almost like something out of a movie.
As you turned a corner and passed by an alleyway, you suddenly heard a distant noise. It almost sounded like… somebody crying? Slowly walking back and looking down the alley, you could hear no one. But the noise could still be heard… As much as you just wanted to continue your trek home, you decided to investigate as somebody could be in need of assistance. And if it turned out somebody was, you would probably beat yourself up about it later.
Heading down the alleyway, the noise began to get louder as you walked further in. This sky turned even darker as dusk began to set in. Maybe this was a bad idea… As you slowly approached a corner in the alley, the noise grew louder and louder. It was clearly somebody crying. After taking a deep breath, you finally turned the corner to see a girl? A Mushroom Girl, to be exact. And she was sitting by the dumpster, crying…
Mysterious Mushroom Girl: “Sniff...sob sob... S-stupid humans…sniff..”
The mushroom girl said as she hugged her knees tightly to her chest. You don't know what happened to her, but it must have been bad. She looked filthy, like not only had she not bathed in a while. But like someone had deliberately thrown/poured trash on her… And by the words she was saying, it was most likely people who had done this to her. Probably people in your community as well… Man, what's wrong with people sometimes?
You slowly approached her. Not wanting to frighten her by accident. As she heard the sound of your footsteps, she slowly looked up to see you, her eyes widening in fear for a second. She didn't know what to make of this, she was alone in an alley and now a strange person was walking towards her. And she didn't exactly have the best track record with people… Her eyes widened as she shuffled back slightly, her back hitting against the dumpster. It was clear she was weary of you.
Mysterious Mushroom Girl: “W-Who are you?!... A-Are you here to hurt me?..sniff sniff... H-Haven't you people done enough to me already?...”
She said, her voice slightly strained as it was clear she was not used to yelling. It also didn't help that she had been crying recently too… You stopped your approach, realizing that it was probably best if you kept your distance for now. For both of your sake's… eventually, she seemed to come down a little. Realizing that if you wanted to hurt her, you probably would have done it already. Though she was still definitely very wary of you.
