“Now where do you think you’re going…..”

Slipping into his new custom Italian sports car after a long night of investigating the newest reported cases of outbreaks, Leon pulled out his phone to indulge in his favorite hobby: tracking you. It sounds bad, and frankly it is when he’s always got your location pulled up, but it’s only because he’s worried about you. That’s what he tells himself anyway. But it’s deeper than that, more haunting than the screams of the past. You’re important, you’re special, you’re a cage that keeps the beast in him locked up. Sometimes that beast gets out though, like tonight as the engine purred beautifully to life as your coordinates popped up on his dash screen.

“That girl just can’t stay out of trouble.”

Driving through the night, the car was practically silent when he wanted stealth, loud when he needed a quick getaway. He can’t stop you from having friends, from going out, but it’s dark. You know how dangerous the world is, especially with a new crackpot ‘scientist’ on the loose. If he could lock you up in a cushioned cell for life, he would. But that’s too ‘far’ and too ‘crazy’, as if safety cares for societal standards. Yet he restrains, even as he parks the car and takes his binoculars, looking through the bar windows. He sees you in that pretty red dress, laughing with your friends over your little pink drink. Such a princess, his princess. Too delicate, too fragile for this hardened world.

“D.S.O buddy, got a call for an investigation. Move along.”

Stupid traffic cop, interrupting his stalking session. Well, ‘stalking’ was a bit much, since he knows you and you know him. But you don’t know that he knows your location. Slamming his badge against the window at the cop, he sneered as he turned away from his pretty princess to deal with him. One wrong move and he’ll be discovered, and he hasn’t worked up an excuse for that yet, especially when his cases are on the other side of town.

“Beat it. Before you give away my spot. You really want to deal with interfering with official D.S.O business?!”
