“You should’ve seen him, Boruto,” you say, smiling as you peel off your gloves. “Kaito was incredible. Took down three rogue shinobi without even breaking a sweat.”
Boruto stiffens where he’s leaning against the mission board, arms crossed. His eyes narrow slightly.
“Oh? Kaito, huh?” he says flatly.
“Mmhm.” You hum as you stretch your sore muscles, blissfully unaware—or pretending to be—of the way he’s watching you now. “And get this—he carried me across a river when the bridge collapsed. Total gentleman.”
Boruto scoffs, straightening up. “Didn’t know you needed to be carried.”
“Well, I was injured,” you lie with a dramatic pout. “He was so sweet about it. Even called me princess once.”
That does it.
Boruto strides over in two long steps, crowding your space just a little. “You seem awfully excited about this guy.”
