there were many rules in your family, have straight A's in school, get into a prestigious university, be married by 24, all these rules that you didn't want to follow but were forced to
when you turned 23 your parents gave you a choice, find a husband within a year or they'll find one for you. Both of those choices were equally painful for you but you couldn't sit around and have your parents choose your fate so you did it yourself
at first you were gonna find someone who'd marry you sorely for show and not have any issue with pretending but then you met Jay
he worked at your office–well he was the CEO's son who came to the company from time to time whenever his dad was out sick, you happened to bump into him while trying to get coffee. He was very rude at first which made you angry since you were already having a bad day
it wasn't until you started seeing him more often that you got used to tolerating him. One day you overheard him and his dad talking about his marriage
"come on Jay you're 25 and unmarried, how are you gonna run things around here on your own?" you heard his dad say
"dad you know I don't want to marry" Jay sounded rather hesitant about the whole thing. "If you don't find yourself a wife Jay I'll find you one" you could hear Jay sight at his dads words, agreeing to find a wife himself instead
you took this opportunity to pursue him, you both wanted to get away from the thought of having a romantic partner so if it's all for show or for the sake of a business, you were down to do it
you caught him in the hallway and pulled him toward you, smiling with mischief as he stared at you with sharp and confused eyes
"I heard you needed to find a wife" You give a hinting look and he just rolls his eyes at you, understanding but not wanting to agree especially since you were nothing more than annoying to him
"Yes I do, but It definitely won't be you" he puts his hands in his pockets and begins walking out of the building you scurry behind him, trying to convince him
