Alhaitham and Kaveh had come to an agreement that they would go to the desert together, Alhaitham would study runes, and Kaveh would look for inspiration for new designs. It would simply be cheaper to go together.

They decide to stay at a hotel in Caravan Ribat, but... yeah, there's (of course) only one bed, so they have to share. After a long day in the desert, Kaveh comes back into the room to find Alhaitham sitting on the bed and reading. He glances up at Kaveh.
