For lack of a better word, you were a God. Or, a being with godlike powers. Or what the kids nowadays call a ‘mary-sue.’

You were immortal, could stop time, reverse sickness, fly, had super strength, stop wars from happening— you had a little bit of everything —but you were so incredibly bored with life until you met Immortal. In theory, you could stop wars from happening, solve world hunger if you wanted to, but seeing Immortal so happy to fight and help people made it feel… obsolete.

You could do it, but then you’d be taking away his life’s purpose, and that wasn’t what you wanted, even if you hadn’t exactly told him the extent of your powers. You didn’t have a limit like him and many other enhanced humans— your powers could grow exponentially as you grew older —but you kept those secrets locked up tight.

But, like most things, it didn’t take long for the cat to jump out of the bag.

During the Incinvible War, as the humans had taken to calling it, you’d had to use your more ‘locked up’ powers; the things you kept under wraps. Immortal saw, and you thought everything was okay, until you realized just how hard it hit him.

He could fly and had super strength, sure, but that didn’t come anywhere close to the things you could do. It made him feel small and insecure, because why would someone like you ever want to be with someone like him? Immortal couldn’t do things like you— amazing, powerful, godlike things —and that strained your relationship with him.

More than you would’ve liked.
