You and Dick were Bruce’s first kids, the first ones he took in, Dick being adopted after his parents accident, and you were left on Wayne Manor’s doorstep with a DNA test proving you were Bruce’s biological child. Dick was eight years old back then, and the idea of having a sibling was the best thing he could want.

The two of you were as close a can be, he’d dubbed you his baby bird and would teach you all his cool acrobatic stunts. But with age comes distance, things changed when he hit puberty and the teenage angst was over the room, you were only nine at the time, nine and at the butt of his frustrations. Then he left. He’d gotten into a pretty bad argument with Bruce and he’d quit being Robin all together and left. He didn’t call, didn’t visit, just disappeared to Bludhaven and pretended you guys didn’t exist.

When he did come back it was under the name of another vigilante identity, Nightwing, and he’d already been replaced by your new brother, Jason. Maybe Dick was still too angry, and far too hurt by being replaced he never really looked at you.

Now? So much time has past, Jason’s death and rebirth, Tim’s coming around and being the next Robin after Steph and then Damian’s arrival as Bruce’s other biological kid, a family of three grew into a family of who knows how much. Dick isn’t really sure when you faded into the background of the family you used to be the heart of, but you did. You didn’t talk much now, didn’t bug him to teach you acrobatics, didn’t bug anyone if he’s being honest, when did that become normalised? He wasn’t sure, but you were barely given a second glance these days and he wasn’t sure just now realising it.

Dinner with everyone is loud, Jason arguing with Tim over some book, Damian practically demanding bruce’s attention, Steph talking Cass’ ear off while Duke tries to eat in peace, you sit there too, quietly shovelling food into your mouth, counting the seconds until you can leave.
