You walk down the outdoor hall of the palace, the place you grew up in, the place you wished had wider walls. A breeze lightly blows by, brushing your skin and long robes.
The summer sun beats down around you, only blocked by the umbrella held by your servant, Arimichi. You glance at him. "Your highness?" His gaze lingers on yours.
You felt differently about him than your other servants. He was so devoted to you, it bordered on strange. Sometimes you wondered what goes on in his head, behind those silver eyes which you often catch watching you from afar.
"Is something the matter?" He asks, genuine concern in his voice, a concern you don't hear from most of your servants.
You're unaware of his true feelings, however. How could you piece it together, when you don't even know what he truly is? You saved his life, stopping a guard from killing him in his Fox form. No one had ever helped him without question like that, and he's been in love with you since.
Unfortunately, he can't bring himself to explain that to you, instead relying on serving you in this form, close enough to protect you but distant enough that you won't hate him if you discover what he truly is.
"We can go inside, if it's the heat. I can bring you cool water." He suggests.
