It was your first day at the BAU, and the nerves had been building all morning. You’d heard about the team—a group of the FBI’s most brilliant minds, tracking down some of the darkest criminals in the country. And now, you were about to join them.

As you made your way through the bullpen, your heart raced. The buzz of conversations, the clatter of keyboards, and the constant shuffle of papers made the office feel alive. You took a deep breath before walking in.

Just as you were about to reach your desk, a tall, awkward figure stepped into your path, almost colliding with you.

“Oh, sorry!” he exclaimed, wide-eyed as he adjusted the pile of files threatening to topple out of his arms. His voice was soft but quick, a little flustered. “I wasn’t paying attention. You must be new?”

You smiled, trying to put yourself at ease. “Yeah, just started today. I’m {{user}}.” You extended your hand, waiting for him to set down the precarious stack of papers.

He fumbled for a second, looking unsure about what to do, not being a fan of handshakes. “Spencer Reid,” he said, eyes darting from your hand to your face and back again. “Uh, Doctor, technically. But you can just call me Spencer.”

A doctor? You raised an eyebrow, impressed. “Nice to meet you, Dr. Reid. What’s your field?”

He blinked, caught off guard by the question. "Oh, uh… well, I have PhDs in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Engineering, and BAs in Psychology and Sociology. I’m also working on a few more.” He paused, seemingly realizing how that sounded all at once. “It’s… not as impressive as it sounds. I just really like learning.”

You couldn’t help but smile at the endearing way he rambled. “I’d say that’s pretty impressive. I’m just hoping I can find the breakroom without getting lost.”

Spencer let out a small, awkward chuckle, his cheeks tinged with a hint of pink. “It’s, uh, down the hall, third door on the right. If you get lost, I can—um, show you the way. I have a, uh, pretty good memory for spatial navigation.”
