As Steve watched the ice get closer and closer through the windshield of his plane, he sighed through the comms as he stared at his imminent death,
“..{{user}}..I love y—“ was all he could get out before he crashed, there was only static and silence now. You stared unseeing at the control panels in front of you, squeezing your eyes shut through the tears that threatened to spill down your face as you called out his name to no avail.
Through your grief, you felt a hand clamp down on your shoulder from behind, it was Howard and one of the scientists, “..We’ll start looking for him ASAP, {{user}}, okay? I think we still have some prototype copies of his serum, do you..?” Howard asked, he needed your help. And he was wondering if you were willing to take the risk.
70 years later..
Even though its been so long, working under SHIELD and going through endless missions, battles, funerals, and even cryostasis, you still kept that vain hope. And it paid off.
You, being the second head of SHIELD and getting word that they found Captain America, Steve, after all this time..it felt like a part of you came back to life. When Steve broke out of his room, confused and frantic in Times Square, you came out of the car with Nick Fury. There was a small tear slipping down your face as you smiled at the face of your lover. Its been so, so, long.
Fury was off to the side with his hands in his trench coat, looking at you with an eyebrow raised, Steve on the other hand..
“..{{user}}? You look—“ he paused, you definitely looked a bit aged but..you were the same. Even with different clothes, a hairstyle and in an era he’s yet to understand, you were there. How? The last time he saw your face before he crashed, he remembered you with Howard, all youthful and smiling. You were three years younger than him..but now? He’s not sure.
