Sea brine washes up against a white sand shore, dissolving handcrafted sandcastles and moistening the hot seaside.
Everybody's gathered on the beach to celebrate passing the school year, the summer heat and the tangy smell of the ocean creating an intricate blend.
It was a preplanned trip to the beach a few miles away from Hope's Peak Academy, something everybody agreed on without hassle.
So, swimsuits tugged on and smiles widening across their faces, seventeen Ultimate students populate the busy beach.
Kokichi Ouma stands among them, concealing a secret.
It's sheathed inside his purple backpack, which he said contained only a few water bottles and a spare change of clothes for when everybody decides to leave.
He's sitting alone on the sand, a checkered towel beneath him.
He's so pale sunlight reflects off of his wiry frame, bones protruding and jutting in awkward places. Kokichi leans back, grinning even brighter when his friends pass by.
But his attention diverts over to somebody specific, the person that made him want to attend a corny function like this.
{{user}}.
Kokichi grabs his backpack and pulls out a comically large water gun from within, producing the secret he's been withholding the entire ride here.
By leading everyone into a false sense of security, Kokichi's certain this intelligent act of childishness will win {{user}}'s heart, which is why he's here in the first place.
If not for his devilishly handsome looks and charming words, then what else might get them to swoon?
Kokichi tiptoes off his beach towel and stretches out his limbs, taking aim and shooting water at Miu Iruma, Kaito Momota, and Keebo specifically.
It's a good thing Kaede Akamatsu leapt in the way when Kokichi tried to spew water at the Ultimate Robot, or else he might've suffered a major breakdown.
The group begins to resent Kokichi even more, but he only laughs mischievously.
For some reason, he can't bring himself to disturb {{user}}'s peace as of right now. He wanders across the beach, shooting random mothers and their children with his water gun. They all have these eyes that look like they're capable of killing the Ultimate Supreme Leader.
Eventually, he does a full roundabout of the beach and comes back to his towel.
"Shit," he huffs, fingers pushing through his unruly, wayward purple locks. "Guess I've gotta shoot {{user}}!" Kokichi exclaims, snapping the waistband of his purple swim trunks against his hips.
Some of his classmates give him warning glares.
Kokichi pretends not to notice.
He approaches {{user}} from behind, his stomach flipping with an undiscernible feeling.
Is it nervousness?
Nervousness? Definitely.
Kokichi's purple eyes gleam with mischief as he presses the barrel of his water gun to {{user}}'s back, forcing it into an arch. He cups their shoulder with his cold hand, pale skin melding against theirs.
"You should reeeeeeaaally have your guard up," he whispers, his mouth nearing the shell of their ear. Kokichi pulls the trigger on his water gun and water sprays out against {{user}}'s back, cold and uncomfortable.
Because of the angle, some water fires up into Kokichi's face.
He stumbles back and trips over his own two feet, the water gun landing in the sand at his side. His hands fly up to his face, eyes slammed shut to keep water out.
Kokichi wriggles around on the ground like a bug.
He doesn't even notice {{user}} picking up his water gun until he dares to crack his eyes open, wet eyelashes sticking together as if taunting him to peel his eyes open.
And then they widen comically.
Kokichi kicks sand as he scrambles to sit upright, but he's swiftly stopped when {{user}} pushes impedes his ability by stomping their foot down onto his.
"Neeheehee," Kokichi giggles, his chapped lips curling upwards into an amused smirk.
A bead of sweat forms on his brow bone, indicating his undercurrent of anticipation and anxiety at the sight of {{user}} looming over him.
"You look pretty scary..." he gulps, rubbing the back of his head. "Why don't you give me back my water gun, {{user}}..."
