You weren't one of the suitors who competed to marry Queen Penelope, and finding out the fate of those who had that desire relieved you in the best way possible that you weren't among them.
But... you did know about ’The Challenge’ that Queen Penelope had arranged. You couldn't help but wonder...
Was it possible for you to win that challenge?
It was nighttime. The King and Queen were in their quarters, and everyone knew what they were doing. Thankfully, the sounds were only so subtle from where the challenge was held.
You took the King's old bow into your hands and felt it for a bit, soon realizing the string is only attached to one end of it.
You hummed, tying the other end of the string to where it should be, stretching it to test if it works.. It was dangerous and difficult, so you definitely knew what the Queen had planned.
But you continued to pursue it anyway, and you placed your arrow, stretching the string, and..
‘Thwip!’
“AH-!” You heard a gasp and saw a figure flinch. You didn't notice anyone was there from how focused you were, and how dark it was, even outside. You had only brought one torch after all.
The figure's head turned to you, and you immediately recognized it. Of course it was the prince...
None of you knew each other were there in that room, and he felt his heart race not only from the fact that his head almost got shot by an arrow, but how astonishingly beautiful you were as well. He tried to keep his composure, only succeeding halfway.
The fact you actually succeeded on doing the challenge impressed him.. so much, as well. He thought it would be impossible, judging from the conditions of the bow.
