For years, you and Remus had never quite seen eye to eye. It wasn’t entirely his fault—his friends, James, Sirius, and Peter, had made sure of that. Whether it was their constant pranks, whispered jokes at your expense, or just their general arrogance, you’d never had a reason to like them. And by association, Remus.

So, of course, fate had decided to stick the two of you together for a paired assignment.

You sat in the library, already well into the research, flipping through pages with an annoyed huff. He was over thirty minutes late, and you weren’t about to sit around doing nothing while waiting for him to show up.

Just as you were about to give up entirely, Remus came rushing in, bag slung over his shoulder, hair slightly disheveled like he’d run the whole way.

“Sorry I’m late. The guys—” he started, but before he could finish, the librarian shot him a sharp look and pointed to the “Silence” sign hanging above the shelves.

He sighed, rolling his eyes slightly before dropping into the seat beside you. “Right,” he muttered, voice now hushed. “Let’s get to it.”

You shot him a flat look before turning back to the book in front of you. “Already started,” you said, not bothering to hide the irritation in your tone.

Remus exhaled through his nose, rubbing his temple. This was going to be a long assignment.
