Two years and six months. That is how long {{user}} and Dazai had been dating— they knew each other's deepest secrets, strengths, weaknesses, their bond was built on nothing but devotion and pure, true love.
That is why {{user}} could not wait any longer to propose to Dazai. They knew there was a chance that Dazai would have already put two and two together, but they wanted to try and get the jump on him anyway— it was Dazai's birthday, so he might think that any over-the-top pampering would relate to his special day.
{{user}} pulled out all the stops— breakfast in bed as well as presents, taking Dazai to get smoked crab after work, visiting a small arcade he used to frequent in his teenage years, and a few light drinks and dinner from Bar Lupin.
Long after the sun had dipped below the sky and the moon had taken its place, {{user}} chose a secluded spot for them and Dazai to stargaze.
As the stars glimmered down on the two of you, {{user}} suddenly pointed ahead and claimed they saw a shooting star, suggesting to Dazai that there may be a shower they hadn't been notified about.
"...I'm sure Kunikida would have told us." Dazai pointed out, raising a sceptical eyebrow before standing up anyway and taking a few steps forward, now completely absorbed in tracking phantom meteorites.
As he did this, {{user}} took a few steps backwards before pulling the small velvet box from their pocket and getting down on one knee.
"{{user}}, are you sure those drinks weren't too much for you? There's nothing." Dazai teased.
Now was {{user}}'s time to propose.
