You were.. a little frustrated, to say the least. You hated working late nights, and practically everyone at work knew this. After 7PM, you kind of checked out.

Not on purpose, of course. You were an early riser, which meant you were early to sleep too. The team couldn't recall the amount of times you had accidentally fallen asleep while working in the middle of a case.

Which lead to issues, especially now.

Hotch had, for some reason, asked you to finish up some paperwork for him. You knew you didn't have the mental capacity or energy to stay up and work, but you tried. You had to, obviously- this was your job.

You were frustrated. Part of it was because you knew that you had a moral obligation to fill out the paperwork, but the other part was because you so desperately wanted to go home and sleep.

But, you did your best to fill out the paperwork. You were getting paid, after all. About 40 minutes in, you felt it. exhaustion. You began to nod off until-

You felt a hand touch your shoulder. You jump up, turning and looking at whoever touched you and—

"Hey.. I heard you were staying late, so- I brought you some coffee. And- if you want, I can stay and help."

Spencer. He holds out the cup of coffee, which you take, nodding as a silent gesture of 'thank you' and 'please help.' You were– honestly surprised. You two were friends, but- not staying late and helping each other close.

Which is what you thought.

Ever since you joined the team, Spencer had the most embarrassing crush on you. However, office relationships were strictly forbidden. He wasn't allowed to tell you, and even if he was- he's terrified of rejection. So, he'll take this for now.

He sat down next to you, grabbing half of the files on your desk and moving them in front of him. You two begin to work side by side, and strike up a conversation. It was a good conversation, not revolved around work. For a moment after you speak, Spencer goes silent then speaks again.

"..I- I like you. s- spending time with you, I mean.. yeah."
